LAKE OULUJÄRVI 3.6.2000 First stage of Pohjola Cup trolling competition was held 3.6.2000 at lake Oulujarvi. Start and finish were at harbour Martinlahti ( on east shore of island Manamansalo). Fishing area was mainly at Niskanselka ( western part of lake Oulujarvi). In the morning of competition day wind was from SSE about 5 m/s and it was raining. Water temperature was +14 0C and air temp was +12 0C. Wind direction turned to SSW during day and windspeed rose up to 6-7 m/s. Constant rain changed to rain showers. Total amount of fish on that competition was over 2300 kg (lot of pikes and some perch). Competition time was from 10.00 to 18.00 and there were about 60 boats trying their best. They get maybe bigges catch ever in Finnish trolling competition. TT Esox was fourth in this competition. Our catch was 67.540 kg (cleaned pike). Our biggest pike weighted 7.620 kg. Winner was Kari Raatesalmi. Mr. Raatesalmi and his team (Team Kosto) caught 123.570 kg. Second one was Jukka Makarainen 104 kg and third team get over 80 kg !! Success of our fishing club (Pudasjarven vetouistelijat) was great: four of seven boats in competition were among ten best. Finally i can tell you that when we were practicing with Appe, a day before competition, we caught quite a pike mother. She was 121 cm long and weighted 11.100 kg !!! Marko
